25.08.05 - ++money can't buy music
firstly a mention of tonight's show and a hope that many of you can make it. we are looking forward to it hugely and we will be fighting fit if alexa has recovered from a very dodgy tummy which she bravely endured all through our last practice. it wasn't even alcohol induced (or so she assures us).
secondly i am at last in the position to announce some other things which i have been working on for the last few months. i have previously mentioned the collaboration with playwright David Greig which i am currently working on. details of this are not finalised, but the idea is to write a musical play based on the events of one alcohol-soaked midsummer weekend in Edinburgh. The play will feature a number of new songs written by me. I will keep you updated about this as it progresses.
the other major thing i have been working on is a new solo project by the name of Money Can't Buy Music. this is a new batch of songs and they will start to appear at the end of October with the release of a single "We will all asphyxiate/We are all on our own when we fall". An album will follow in February of next year. more details and ongoing updates will appear on the MCBM site which will be launched today (August 25th) at the following place:

and just to save people asking - none of the above means that there will not be more ballboy songs and albums to come - there will.

18.08.05 - Musicals and Gigs
hello all
thanks to everyone who turned up at the london show - it was a lot of fun for us even if we seem to be developing a habit of playing shows, packing up and then having a scary lady shout at us to get out of the venue so she can go home.
just a quick note this week.
i wanted to invite anyone who is interested to a talk i am doing on monday at the traverse theatre in edinburgh. a while ago i was approached by David Greig who is one of Britain's best playwrights to work on a 'play with songs and music'. we have been avoiding calling this a musical because of the connotations that has, but undoubtedly that's what it is.
anyway - we are doing a talk on our 'creative process' at the traverse at 3.30 on edinburgh. tickets are £4 i think and the talk lasts for an hour. we'll be doing some readings answering questions and i'll probably sing a couple of songs. more details about this and other traverse events can be found here:

other band news - we have negotiated a longer set length for the london show so you will all be delighted to know that the talking pish can be reinstated - any requests for the show will have to be made soon as we have only one more practice before the trip to london.
and finally more ballboy-related wedding news. the very lovely john stuart who designed and looked after the first ballboy website married the equally lovely sheila bo last weekend. very many congratulations to both of them. i will be posting up a photo alongside the one from katie's wedding soon.
